Sea Kayaking

Learn the basics in our Intro to Sea Kayaking class or join a group of water lovers for a Sunset Paddle.

Level 1: Basic Course

These weekend long classes will teach you the basics of sea kayaking, from parts of the boats, to basic strokes, and basic rescues. After passing the course you can come and practice in the boats during Open Boating.

Level 1: Sunset Full Moon Paddle

A fun group paddle for everyone. Come watch the full moon rise over the Berkeley hills in one of our very few “in the dark” events. A super social event that is fun for everyone.  Talk about a great view! Wear layers!

Sunday Morning Paddle

Come and enjoy a fun and relaxing Sunday morning on the water with other paddlers and one of our skilled sea kayak instructors. Sunday Morning Paddles are great for practicing and refining skills, meeting new people and having a good time.

Open to participants who are eligible to rent touring sea kayaks at Cal Adventures. Drop-in students welcome.

Sea Kayak Tomales Bay

Meet us at Tomales Bay Resort near Point Reyes for a basic paddling lesson before paddling out on Tomales Bay. This area is a bird estuary where people will have the opportunity to view seals, moon-jellies, leopard sharks, and bat rays.

Depending on the group and weather conditions, we’ll paddle to Hog Island or along the coast to enjoy views of wildflowers and golden meadows with a beach picnic along the way. No experience necessary. Please bring your own bagged lunch.
