Introductory courses for kids with little to no skateboarding experience. These classes focus on fundamentals.

Cub Skate

This introductory course is geared towards developing skateboarding fundamentals, including awareness, balance, and compression while on the board. Beginning skaters will learn to push, turn, and pump on the board while improving their riding skill. The curriculum places emphasis on safety and includes instruction on proper falling technique.

Eligibility

Ages: 5-7 years old

Prerequisite: No previous experience required.

Price

The price for the remaining classes to be determined by the number of classes left. See Billing info below.

Next Level

Advancement to the Beginner 1 or Beginner 2 classes requires the acquisition of basic skateboarding skills from the Cub Skate Class. In addition, skateboarders must demonstrate proper body position and comfort on the board. Advancement is based on the instructor’s discretion

Beginner 2 (8+)

Designed for skaters that have developed some experience with the skills practiced in the Beginner 1 class. In the Beginner 2 course, skaters will continue to build on those maneuvers and start to learn new tricks.

Eligibility

Ages: 8+ years old

Prerequisite: 3-6 months of skateboarding experience and/or competition of Beginner 1 class.

Next Level

Billing and Cancellations:

  • In CampDoc you will be given the option to pay in full for the remaining classes of the year. 
  • We are requiring 2 weeks written notice to cancel and/or refund payments. 
    • Example – Student is in BC1 Saturday 9am and has chosen to pay $810 for the year (this is for 31 Saturday classes). On December 27th, we received a written notice that you wish to discontinue. This means that the cancellation will be effective on January 10th. There are 18 classes left. We will refund the card on file for $470.32 (810/31 x 18).
  • Make-ups: We will still provide make-ups if currently enrolled and space is available. Please arrange for make-ups by emailing gbgym@berkeley.edu.
