Welcome to the Berkeley Rec Sports Virtual Swim Club. Be part of a swimming community, all striving to motivate themselves and support each in their shared love of the water. Join us and swim wherever you are - your local pool, out in the open water, in a lake, your favorite beach. Whether you've just learned to swim or are a competitive swimmer pushing to beat your PB, check-in to the Swim Club on the Strava app and share your favorite swimming spot, record your distance, receive training tips, and join fun challenges.

Health Coaching and Healthy Sexuality Coaching

Virtual Health Coaching
In each virtual 45-minute session, your Health Coach will partner with you to identify simple lifestyle changes to enhance your health, support you in crafting a plan to achieve those changes, and offer ways to get your momentum going.

Please note, you’ll be placed in a waiting room until the class begins.

Live Virtual Seated Yoga
We are now offering a free live Seated Yoga class twice a week. Please find a class description and other info here:
Seated Yoga is a gentle practice in which postures are performed while seated and/or with the aid of a chair. Seated Yoga is a great option for those with physical disabilities, aging populations, or people with difficulty balancing. It is also a great form of yoga for beginners or anyone who wants to focus on a gentle practice. Just like other yoga practices, Seated Yoga increases flexibility, strength and body awareness. Please join us for this 30 minute yoga flow followed by a 15 minute Q&A.

Individual One-On-One or Duet Virtual Personal Training
Virtual personal training in your home. Individual one-on-one or duet (2 people) sessions are available virtually via Zoom video conference for new and existing clients.
Your personal trainer will help you achieve your fitness goals by offering feedback on form, structuring your workout, and supporting you as you build your exercise routine. Our certified, professional trainers will design a specific workout plan tailored to your needs and goals. Get the coaching, feedback, and support you need all at affordable rates.
How does personal training at your home work? It's easy! Training sessions will be virtual via Zoom video conference. Once you schedule an appointment your trainer will send you an email with a Zoom link. At the appointment time, use the Zoom link to join your personal training session.

Robbie Earle can also send you the New Client Questionnaire, which must be filled out prior to your first session. Please review the paperwork, any "Yes" answers on the PARQ will require medical clearance from your healthcare provider. You can also fill out a hard copy of the questionnaire and fax it to Berkeley Rec Sports.
Fitness and Wellness Opportunity Fund (FWOF)
The Fitness & Wellness Opportunity Fund (FWOF), made possible from a generous Wellness Fee Committee grant, provides fee offsets to lower barriers for student participation in Rec Sports programs and activities.
Rec Sports offers a wide range of programs and activities to choose from including swimming and tennis lessons, personal training, CPR/First Aid certification, outdoor adventures, fitness workshops, and intramural sports. Martial Arts programs are excluded at this time. Please note, some programs are very popular and may have limited availability.
When registering for a Rec Sports program or activity, please be sure to request a FWOF fee offset. Students are eligible for one fee offset per year. Fee-offsets are available until the grant funds are exhausted.

Free Personal Training for students with a disability
We are proud to offer free personal training for students with disabilities through the Accessible Wellness and Empowerment (AWE) program. Become a NASM Certified Personal Trainer
NASM CPT Certification is nationally recognized and one of the most highly regarded certifications in the personal training industry. NASM’s training systems and methodologies represent the “gold standard” in fitness and its Optimum Performance Training (OPT) Model is the industry’s first comprehensive training program based on current scientific research.
Our 12-week in-person and online program will be taught by a NASM Certified Personal Trainer. You will learn the basics of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, nutrition, behavioral coaching, and how to design a program specific to your clients’ needs and abilities to help them achieve their goals safely and effectively. Not only will the course prepare you for the certification exam, but the course will also provide virtual practice during scheduled labs.

- Virtual 5k Run & Walkadd
Get moving, have fun, and connect with friends when you join our campus community for virtual 5K events every Saturday. To participate just download the free Strava app and join the Berkeley Rec Sports 5K Club.
Complete your 5K at any time during each designated event day. Your choice: Go outside to run or walk (six feet apart!) or stay inside on a treadmill. If you use a treadmill for your 5K you will need to manually enter your participation information onto the app. Check the app messaging posts for event updates and fun fitness tips.

We are here to help you complete your 5K. Whether you’ve completed a 5k or longer distance race, or looking to finish your first 5k – we've got a plan that fits your comfort level. Our Novice I, Novice II, Intermediate and Advanced training plans can help you improve fitness, lengthen your distances and improve your time. These workout plans progress you through the beginning stages of a training plan to your peak of finishing a 5k. Included in these plans are suggested weekly strength workouts and online classes that progress with you through your training plan!
