Hiring clinics for IM Sports begin January 22 and conclude February 2.
No experience is necessary – we will teach you everything you need to know to be a competent referee. You will be responsible for officiating Intramural Sports contests. Ensure each Intramural Sports contest is delivered in a safe and enjoyable manner. Responsible for the enforcement of rules, policies, and procedures as outlined in the Intramural Sports Handbook. Responsible for the content of the Intramural Sports Staff Handbook.
Assist in preparing Intramural Sports sites for scheduled activities. Responsible for the cleanliness of equipment. Check in/out appropriate game-related equipment. Ensure participants observe Program rules and regulations regarding risk management, safety, sportsmanship, and policies and procedures. Discuss rules and clarify interpretations with participants prior to Intramural Sports contests.
Exercise tact, good manners, and courtesy even when situations may become emotional. Maintain a positive and patient attitude at all times. Attend all Intramural Sports All-Staff Meetings and appropriate training clinics.

Certifications: New Officials hired must become CPR/AED/First Aid certified and trained in bloodborne pathogens by November 1 or April 1 of their hire semester to remain on staff. All continuing and returning Officials must keep CPR/First Aid certifications and blood borne pathogen training current to continue being scheduled.
Part Time, 5-19.5 hours per week. $13.53 per game.

Onboarding & Required Documents
If you are selected as part of the IM Sports staff, you must attend one of two onboarding sessions with University HR to be formally hired. You must bring to this meeting the documents listed in this list of required documents. You cannot complete the onboarding or work any hours without original versions of these documents.

Session #2 is part of our All-Staff meeting that runs 5 – 7 p.m. and is required for both new and returning staff.
Great news: No Intramural Sports Experience Necessary!
Site Supervisors are the on-site supervisors for all of our Intramural Sports events. They will assist the Intramural Sports program in supervising and supporting Referees and participants. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Oversight of outdoor/indoor sports, supervision of Referees, administration of first aid, player check-in, problem solving to make important on site decisions, documentation of incidents/accidents, and ensuring that we are delivering the best possible experience for our participants. Site Supervisors will be an integral part of the execution of the Intramural Sports programs. The Site Supervisor position is a leadership role and will serve as a role model for referees and participants. As the most visual representative of the IM Sports Office, we expect Site Supervisors to be problem solvers with a professional attitude and great customer service.
Must be a registered University of California, Berkeley student for the Spring 2017 semester. Must have a 2.00 GPA to apply for the position. Must be willing to work 8-15 hours per week throughout the term of the position. Must be willing to work evenings and some weekend hours. Assist with all Rec Sports/Intramural Sports tasks as assigned. Must attend monthly Site Supervisor meetings and semester All-Staff Meetings. First Aid/CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain before first shift.
Part Time: 5-15 hours per week, $14.53 per game.
