Girls Beginning

 
 

Gymnasts start to learn skills that are unique to each women’s apparatus and refine all their basic core skills.
 

Fall 2019: Fall classes listed below will begin on Tuesday, September 3.

Girls Beginning 1

GB1 is an introductory level class for school-aged children. Students will focus on skill progressions, and enhancing their listening skills. Classes reinforce fundamental skills, while learning the safe body-shapes for more advanced skills.

Eligibility

Ages: 6+ years old

Prerequisite: GB1 is an introductory class for students age 6 and above, no previous experience required.

Price

Once per week: $85 per month

Twice per week: $135 per month (Sign-up for the two sections you would like, and your account will be credited.)

Next Level

Girls Beginning 2

Gymnasts will continue to work on vault, bars, beam and floor, while perfecting their form of each skill. These skills will increase in difficulty, as they begin to connect skills gained from previous classes. This class will begin to incorporate more core and upper-body strength, while continuing to develop gym etiquette and focus.

Eligibility

Ages: 6+ years old

Prerequisite: Successful completion of all Kinder Bears or Girls Beginning 1 skills. If moving from an outside gym, students can be assessed for a level recommendation.

Price

Once per week: $85 per month

Twice per week: $135 per month (Sign-up for the two sections you would like, and your account will be credited.)

Next Level

Gymnasts move to Girls Beginning 3 after the successful acquisition of all skills, as well as being excellent listeners, and independent productive workers.

Girls Beginning 3

Gymnasts continue to move past fundamentals and engage in more advanced skills on all four events. This class will work on strength development; upper-body, core, and leg. The strength and flexibility developed in this class will be essential in later more advanced classes. At this time, these gymnasts should have mastered gym etiquette, and have excellent listening comprehension.

Eligibility

Ages: 6+ years old

Prerequisite: Successful completion of all Girls Beginning 2 skills. If moving from an outside gym, students can be assessed for a level recommendation.

Price

Once per week: $95 per month

Twice per week: $160 per month (Sign-up for the two sections you would like, and your account will be credited.)

Next Level

Class Details

Golden Bears Youth Gymnastics requires payment of fees through our automatic charge program. Charges to your credit card will be posted during the first week of the month. Charges will continue until you have notified GOLDEN BEAR in writing (via email) that you wish to discontinue your participation in our program. Changes must be made by the first of the month to avoid being charged for the next month.To cancel, send an email to us at: gbgym@berkeley.edu

Weekend classes are very popular and in high-demand. Our calendar is based on a year-round average of 4 classes per month. If Saturday or Sunday classes fall below this average, there will be no refunds. We will arrange make-ups if space is available.

A registration fee is applied to each class. If you want to transfer classes please email gbgym@berkeley.edu to avoid the fee. This is a non-refundable fee.

Every Golden Bears Youth Gymnastics class is subject to cancellation due to low enrollment. If your class is being cancelled, you will be contacted and given options to transfer. If you have any questions, please email gbgym@berkeley.edu.

Make-ups are provided as a courtesy to our customers if there is space available. Make-ups must be scheduled no more than 7 days in advance by emailing gbgym@berkeley.edu. Make-ups are only available to currently enrolled clients. Participants must pick up an official make-up slip from the cashier on the first floor and give it to the teacher of the scheduled class. Drop-ins are not allowed. No make-ups may be scheduled on Saturdays except for Bear Cubs 1 classes. Golden Bears Youth Gymnastics does not offer credits or refunds.
