Rec Sports Fitness Workshops are designed to meet specific health and fitness needs. These workshops are ideal for athletes of all levels.
Rowing Basics
Learn proper technique when using the Concept 2 Erg Rowing Machines so that you can safely and effectively get a high-intensity workout. During this 3 week program, you will learn proper rowing technique, do a variety of drills and timed pieces, and do accessory core training to prevent injury and improve performance. All levels are welcome to sign up!

NASM Certified Personal Trainer Prep Course
The NASM-CPT Certification is nationally recognized as one of the most highly regarded certifications in the fitness industry. NASM’s training systems and methodologies represent the “gold standard” in fitness. Their Optimum Performance Training (OPT) Model is the industry’s first comprehensive training program based on current scientific research.
Studying for the certification exam can be challenging. You can do it on your own or take advantage of the certification prep course at Berkeley Rec Sports. Our prep course includes a 12-week in-person session led by an NASM credentialed personal trainer who will guide you through the textbook, answer questions, and provide valuable practice labs. Review of the online content is available for those participants who choose to access it. The sessions will cover all of the topics on the exam including anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, nutrition, behavioral coaching, and program design.
When you enroll in the certification prep course you will receive the following items at a special discounted price:
- Hardcover NASM Textbook
- Classroom instruction and practice labs with a subject matter expert
- A NASM enrollment code used to access the online learning content and Certified Personal Trainer Exam
Although taking the prep course cannot guarantee that you will pass the exam, it can certainly provide you with an advantage. After passing the exam and becoming a NASM-CPT, you may want to consider applying for a position at Berkeley Rec Sports. We consider all qualified applicants who have NASM-CPT certifications whether or not they have taken the prep course. Taking the prep course does not guarantee employment. Berkeley Rec Sports and NASM are non-affiliated entities.

NASM-Certified Nutrition Coach Prep Course
Interested in becoming a NASM-Certified Nutrition Coach? Want to learn the facts about the hottest topics in nutrition, such as proteins, carbs, macronutrients, and fad diets? Taking our prep course will help you study for the Nutrition Coach certification exam and provide you with an in depth review of the course material. The prep course will cover all the topics you will need for the exam including body composition, weight loss, improving overall health and wellness, and much more. You will also discover the reasons why we all get stuck in dietary patterns – plus strategies on how to break them. When you enroll in the certification prep course you will receive the following items at a special discounted price:
- Learn how to apply nutrition science and behavior change in real-world scenarios to get your clients results.
- Weekly in-person classroom instruction with a subject matter expert.\
- A NASM enrollment code used to access the online learning content and Certified Nutrition Coach Exam.
Although taking the prep course cannot guarantee that you will pass the exam, it can certainly provide you with an advantage. Passing the exam will earn you 1.9 CEUs towards the renewal of your NASM-CPT or other certifications that you may hold. Taking the prep course does not guarantee Rec Sports employment. We will also discuss the NASM Certified Personal Trainer Prep Course that Berkeley Rec Sports offers where you will learn your craft with in-person instruction, online content, and you could earn your certification in as little as 12 weeks.
With a personal trainer certification you will learn basic and applied sciences and nutrition concepts that will assist you in designing programs for:
