Game Manager

Position

This position is responsible for monitoring Intramural Sports (IM Sports) games. Managing is not the same as refereeing. You will not enforce IM rules to the caliber that a referee would, but you are responsible for maintaining a safe and enjoyable sports environment according to outlined IM Sports rules, policies and procedures. These rules and procedures to follow are not the same as typical sports rules. Attend all required training clinics and All-Staff meetings for Intramural Sports.

The Game Manager assists in preparing Intramural Sports sites for scheduled activities. This includes responsibility for the cleanliness of equipment; check-in/out appropriate game-related equipment; ensure participants observe Program rules and regulations regarding risk management, safety, sportsmanship, and policies and procedures; and discuss rules and clarify interpretations with participants prior to Intramural Sports contests.

Display conflict resolution and communication skills in interactions with participants and staff members.

Qualifications

No experience is necessary – we will teach you everything you need to know to be a competent game supervisor. Positions are open to current UC Berkeley students only. Interested students need to attend training clinics at the beginning of each semester. Contact ucbim@berkeley.edu for information regarding hiring after September 25, 2022.

Certifications

New Site Supervisors hired must become CPR/AED/First Aid certified through the American Red Cross and trained in blood-borne pathogens before they can work a shift.
