Student Staff Development
Berkeley Rec Sports impacts students’ lives by providing them with opportunities to succeed. These opportunities come in the form of leadership, conflict resolution, customer service, problem solving, and other transferable skills. By teaching students to understand the nuances of human interaction, leading by example, and autonomy with job responsibilities, Berkeley Rec Sports lets students gain one of the greatest tools in life: experience.
Our program Rec Talks helps student staff make meaningful connections between what they learn in the classroom and what they learn on the job. Based on the Iowa GROW model, these connections contribute to overall academic and social success. Through Rec Talks, student employees learn to link the interpersonal expertise gained on the job (such as communication, listening, time-management and people skills) with future career paths and academic coursework.
All student employees and Sport Club Officers with Berkeley Rec Sports have the opportunity to schedule resume review sessions with Associate Director Liz Seal. See above for more tips to assist your application for employment with Rec Sports.
