Cal Sport Clubs

The Triathlon Club introduces new athletes to the sport of triathlon and provides the training that athletes need to excel in competition.  The club is open to athletes of all skill levels and teaches new members how to swim, bike and run properly and safely.  Membership is open to students, faculty, staff and community members.  There are no minimum practice requirements and members can determine there own level of commitment.

The club’s primary focus is to provide a comprehensive year-long training schedule that includes over 10 coached practices in all three disciplines each week.  In addition, team meetings provide a platform for educational clinics necessary for new members to learn about the sport.  In the spring semester, the club supports its members as they race against other colleges in California as they  prepare for the USA Triathlon Collegiate National Championships.

Since its inception in 1989, Cal Triathlon has excelled in all aspects of collegiate triathlon.  Over the last five years, the team has won 2 individual titles, 3 men’s titles, a team title at Collegiate Nationals.  Additionally, the team has had 2 second place men’s finishers, 2 second place women’s finishers and 5 second place team finishes.  The club welcomes both new and experienced athletes to join them and continue their tradition of excellence.
