You’ll learn leave-no-trace camping skills and how to prepare the perfect outdoor meal while staying the first night at a designated campground and then two nights along beaches. The peaceful surroundings of Pt. Reyes will lure you back again and again during your years at Cal. For more info visit the Pt. Reyes National Seashore Website
Though there is no kayaking experience required, you do need to know how to swim and be comfortable in open water. All participants will be provided with wetsuits and life jackets. Students will be expected to paddle single and tandem kayaks in moderate wind conditions and assist in lifting and carrying their boats across beach areas. There will be no extended hiking on this trip while carrying large packs, but students should be comfortable doing day hikes of up to 3 miles.
