Shane’s passion for movement began at an early age. As a young child she danced, competed in horseback riding, softball and volleyball. She began teaching fitness classes in 1992 while studying dance at the University of Oregon. She studied jazz, modern, ballet and musical theater and performed as a member of the Briggs Contemporary Dance Company in Eugene, Oregon. After completing her undergraduate studies with a B.S. from the University of Oregon, she was accepted as a student into the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center in New York City. There she would continue her dance studies of ballet, jazz, Horton and Graham technique and was introduced to pilates. Upon her return to the west coast, Shane not only earned her J.D. from the New College of California School of Law in San Francisco, but also danced with the Newstyle Motherlode Dance Company in Oakland for two years and resumed her fitness teaching.
Shane currently teaches kick-boxing, abs and back, and cardio and strength conditioning at the University of California at Berkeley and is certified by AFAA, the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America. She is also certified by the NASM (National Association of Sports Medicine) in Personal Training, is a USA Track and Field Level 1 Coach, and is an American Boot Camp Certified Health Coach. She has a law practice in San Francisco and conducts personal training in her free time.
Shane lives in Oakland with her husband.
