Golf For Veterans

Increase strength, improve flexibility and reduce stress by playing golf!

With over 300 veterans attending UC Berkeley, the campus is proud to offer Golf Fore Veterans; a program designed to improve strength and flexibility while also promoting mental wellness. Student veterans learn the game of golf from PGA instructors at the beautiful Tilden Park Golf Course in the Berkeley hills. The program is open to student veterans. Course Background

Golf Fore Veterans is a campus partnership between the Department of Recreational Sports, Transfer and Re-entry Center, Cal Student Veterans Group, and the Tilden Regional Golf Course. The program was made possible from a grant from the National Alliance for Accessible Golf in partnership with the U.S. Golf Association, and a donation from the Pepsi Beverage Alliance.

To encourage veterans to continue to play the game of golf indefinitely, Tilden Golf Course pro PGA instructors will focus on teaching basic skills that will quickly progress to actual course play. Over the course of eight weeks instructors spend the first six weeks teaching small groups basic golfing techniques on the driving range and putting greens. The two last weeks will progress to instructors playing with small groups on the golf course. After the eight weeks of instruction, student veterans will have credit to play five additional rounds of golf.
