UC Berkeley student Newton Nguyen is 98% blind, and competes on the triathlete team. Nguyen and his teammates are currently training for the Collegiate Triathlon Nationals next month in South Carolina. Nguyen “is an inspiration to the team,” says Cal’s triathlon coach Dean Harper. He is allowed to ride a tandem bike with a guide, but trains with his team. …
The University of California, Berkeley captured the National Championship title at the 2015 USTA Tennis On Campus National Championship, held at the Cary Tennis Center in Cary, N.C., April 9-11. Berkeley defeated the University of Minnesota, 28-17, in Saturday’s championship match. This marks back-to-back National Championships for the Golden Bears and gives them four titles in the past six years. …
